CONCATENATE in ABAP 7.4


Using CONCATENATE to concatenate strings, literals and variables

Using CONCATENATE is simpler in ABAP 7.4, you need to use '|' for concatenating literals and need to use && to concatenate variable etc

CONCATENATE prior to ABAP 7.4

DATA: LV_TEXT TYPE STRING VALUE 'SAPNUTS'.
DATA: lv_out TYPE string.

CONCATENATE 'HELLO' lv_text 'WORLD' INTO lv_out.
WRITE:/ lv_out.

CONCATENATE ABAP 7.4

DATA(lv_text) = 'SAPNUTS'.

DATA(lv_out) =  | HELLO | && lv_text && | WORLD | .

WRITE:/ lv_out.
